The Amaryllis are in full bloom and this year almost all my pots are
blooming. And the best part is that I have not done anything for them all
year except water them. I did not divide the bulbs and put them in new
pots so most of them are crowding their pots. The only time I repotted the
bulbs was when the pots broke, maybe from the crowding!
All my Amaryllis
pots lie on the terrace of my house all the year around. Even when the
temperature touches 107-111°F during May and June they remain there
under the blazing hot sun without any problem. I find the Amaryllis
extremely low maintainence and yet the blooms are so splendid and
beautiful.
Around the 17th of last month, I went bud spotting on my terrace and I
was delighted to see many of the pots sending up buds.
As you might have guessed already, for me there is no such thing as 'too many' where these lovely blooms are concerned!
How beautiful!! And so many stalks of amaryllis. It must be like heaven Sujata! I am so happy for you. My one and only stalk of amaryllis is left with one flower now... Anyway, enjoy all those beautiful colours and beautiful blooms. Good job and happy gardening :-D
ReplyDeleteThanks Steph. Mine are fading away too now. Very few of them left. Its so sad that we have to wait for a whole year to enjoy them again.
ReplyDeletePretty, pretty, pretty! And so neatly arranged.

ReplyDeleteHi Sujata,
ReplyDeleteJust loved your blog. Was searching your mail id all across your blog to seek some help. I am new to balcony gardening and recently planted a Periwinkel (rad one) a jasmine plant and a queen of night on 12 inch pots in my balcony. none of them seems growing. periwinkle gives a hope still no new leafs and buds coming up. jasmine also looks fading up as no new shoots coming. they get 6 hours of sunlight at least 4 hours of direct sunlight and watering twice a day.
I am also in Delhi. Please help me understand the reasons and advice what to do. I am reachable at kavita.uprety@gamil.com
Really pretty. Reminds me of the nursery rhyme, "Mary, Mary quite contrary, ... pretty maids all in a row".
ReplyDeletevery lovely flowers. Thanks Sujata for sharing pix. As you said, there can't be too many of these beauties. Do share a few tips.... how to plant amaryllis... seeds, stalks, saplings? what is it called in indian languages ...esp. hindi or tamil? where can I get some to plant? What is the planting season? What is the flowering season? I am new to gardening, but just discovering the wonders and joys of nature, trees, flowers, greenery and so much more. I can be reached at geetacsivam@gmail.com
